Seguir Leyendo › 72 VENENCIADORES JAPONESES BATEN UN RÉCORD EN TOKIO AL VENENCIAR SIMULTÁNEAMENTE El récord mundial que responde a “el número más alto de venenciadores venenciando vino simultáneamente” ha sido batido por venenciadores japoneses, el 6 de junio en Tokio. El venenciador es el profesional especializado en trasegar el vino de la venencia al catavino, con destreza y desde una considerable altura, teniendo sobre la venencia perfección y dominio, considerándola un miembro propio, una prolongación del brazo. La propuesta ganadora, defendida por la chef Michelle Matthews y el sumiller Ian J. Adams , ha consistido en un entrante de Langostino ligeramente escalfado en escabeche , virutas de mojama infusionadas en consomé frío de tomate al azafrán , aderezado con aceite y brotes de cebollino acompañado de Manzanilla Pasada Pastrana de Bodegas Hidalgo-La Gitana. Seguir Leyendo › 72 JAPANESE VENENCIADORES  BREAK RECORD IN TOKYO FOR SIMULTANEOUS WINE-POURING  A world record was broken on 6 June in Tokyo as 72 Japanese venenciadores became “the greatest number of venenciadores to pour wine simultaneously” using this technique. A venenciador is the expert who specialises in using the venencia with dexterity when pouring wine into wine glasses from a considerable height, yet maintains such perfect mastery of its movement that the utensil seems to be a prolongation of the venenciador´s arm. Seguir Leyendo › POSITIVE OUTLOOK FOR THE UPCOMING GRAPE HARVEST IN THE JEREZ REGION Jerez winemakers and the Consejo Regulador are once again optimistic in the weeks leading up to this year´s grape harvest, in spite of the recent heat waves–and even when the weather forecast for next week predicts temperatures to rise again , but no serious setbacks are foreseen and more importantly, there have not been frequent easterly winds (the feared “levante”) which are grape-reducing enemy #1. And if the “levante” blows intensely for long periods of time, the fruit ripens earlier and moves up the grape harvesting season. Currently, it is estimated that the harvesting campaign will start around 20 August. Adams took first place for their ultimate food and Sherry wine menu at the international pairing competition. The awards for Best Chef and Best Sommelier went to Adrián Zarzo of Zarzo (Holland) and Ian J. Adams of 15 Romolo (USA) , respectively.
